Features and print
After graduating from university, Sarah Jane Bell’s first job was writing articles and communication documents for Oxfam in Cambodia. She had the privilege of travelling to remote communities and covering the effects of hydropower dam developments on the Mekong River. That experience taught her the importance of providing a platform for voices that might not otherwise be heard.
During her time at the Phnom Penh Post, she wrote features for the weekend edition with a focus on health, covering everything from women’s menstrual issues to youth alcohol consumption. At the ABC, Sarah Jane focused on in-depth coverage of major infrastructure developments and how they affected farmers and indigenous groups.
Sarah Jane has also been published in The Australian Women's Weekly in 2023 sharing her own story about an ectopic pregnancy, encouraging a safe space for women to talk about often-hidden issues.
