About

Sarah Jane Bell’s childhood and career have seen her move across the globe. Living in changing environments has given her the skills to make personal connections quickly and communicate effectively in a wide variety of situations.

As a reporter with both the national broadcaster and two commercial networks, Sarah Jane has worked in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania. Her first position after graduating from the Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Journalism was in Cambodia. She moved to Southeast Asia to work first for not-for-profit Oxfam and subsequently the national newspaper at that time, The Phnom Penh Post.

She has been keen for opportunities to work overseas after spending a year of her degree at Exeter University in England. There she was an enthusiastic participant in rowing and snowsports. After completing her high school education in Queensland, she also spent a year abroad, living in the south of France and working at a school called Château de Sauveterre. Her French still needs a lot of improvement!

Sarah Jane grew up in Brisbane and Mount Isa, a mining town in far north Queensland. She spent much of her childhood riding horses and competing in dressage.
